Libraries know how to get in on the fun of #SharkWeek! With lots of exciting tie-ins to movies and TV, we had a great time finding these examples for this edition of the Social Library. These nine libraries used Facebook to highlight their collections, programs, and creativity.
- Spartanburg County Public Libraries in South Carolina shared a photo of a staffer holding a dozen shark-related DVD titles with the help of three shark puppets. "It’s #SharkWeek! Stop by your nearest library and take a bite out of these DVDs."
- Frank Sarris Public Library in Pennsylvania, like many libraries, created a Shark Week book display to celebrate.
- Henry County Public Library System in Georgia created a very suspenseful Sharks in the Stacks trailer that's sure to have you on the edge of your seat. "Join in on the fun and search the libraries for a shark! For this week only a few shark notes are hidden each day, find one and win a prize. #Sharksinthestacks"
- Cherry Valley Public Library in Illinois shared Shark Week Facts during the week. Shark Week Fact #1 is at right: "Sharks do not have a single bone in their bodies. Instead they have a skeleton made up of cartilage." Check out facts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
- Sachem Library in New York shared an invitation and a short video for folks to come take a selfie with a shark. "Stop by our photo booth in The Studio. Make sure you ‘check-in’ to Sachem Library and tag #TheSPLStudio in your post. Grab a free gift while you’re here."
- Emma S. Clark Memorial Library in New York shared an invite to "Celebrate #SharkWeek with a visit to the Long Island Aquarium! We sell discounted tickets at our Circulation Desk. 🦈🦈🦈 And P.S. - the tickets don't expire! So really, you can go anytime. 😉"
- Cromwell Belden Public Library in Connecticut created a fun and suspenseful short video to highlight their Shark Week book display.
- Portland Public Library in Maine shared an epic short film, Reading Frenzy at Portland Public Library, featuring the Library Shark and the cutest shark bait around! "What this shark doesn't know yet is that there is a lot more to do at this library than just read books! Join this friendly-neighborhood Shark as it explores one of our city's most treasured landmarks!"
- Andover Public Library in Ohio made Shark Masks as part of their celebration for #sharkweek2019. Be sure to check out the photos!
