Library Staff Competency Collections
In addition to the Competency Index for the Library Field, which was compiled by WebJunction, many library organizations have put the effort into defining the competencies—skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors—necessary for library staff to provide the best service to their patrons. These competency sets can be helpful in creating job descriptions, employee evaluations or planning for continuing education. Use these competency collections as a starting point for your own competency-based efforts, and if your library develops a set, let us know!
